Still more to discover!

Socorristas de Biarritz X-X (intersection 13)

A woman in a bathing suit and a man in swimming trunks, equipped with binoculars, peer at the horizon from their tall lifeguard’s chair. She is wearing a light blue bathing cap, he a light blue cap. Together, they watch over the beach between Heist and Duinbergen. This bronze sculpture by the Spanish Aurora Cañero weighs at least 570 kg and despite its weight, exudes a sense of peace.

A Fisherman’s Friend (intersection 13)

From the Beaufort collection! For Beaufort03 (2009), our countryman Peter Rogiers made a fanciful sculpture out of aluminium. The figure looks like it is emerging from the dark water dripping with swamp mud, or is it seaweed. The title is a nod to the well-known British throat pastilles.

Knokke-Heist Casino (between intersections 68 and 18)

The Casino of Knokke-Heist has more to offer than just its casino room. It hosts performances, exhibitions, parties and other fine events all year round.

Two Large AVL men (between intersections 68 and 18)

The two large AVL men, immense polyester sculptures by Joep Van Lieshout, greet each other on the square, a crossroads of incoming, outgoing and through traffic. Awash in symbolism, thanks to their remarkable format and colour, the men have become a recognizable beacon in Knokke-Heist.

If you go down in the woods today (between intersections 68 and 18)

This elegant ironwork with plexiglass is made of 2 metal fences of 4 metres high and 3.60 metres wide. Each fence weighs 100 kilos. The artists, Irene Droogleever Fortuyn and Robert O’Brien, wanted in this way to get the viewers to look with more awareness at their surroundings.

4 Monoliths (intersection 18)

Ulrich Rückriem was originally a stonemason, and today his technique of cutting and splitting stone along straight lines is the distinguishing feature of Rückriem’s Minimal Art. These four colossal blocks, carved out of Austrian granite stone, together weigh 48 tonnes. The visible gaps and cracks are traces of the working method. The proportions follow mathematical principles and, despite their scale, are in seamless harmony with the location. A puzzle made up of four large pieces that can be brought back together into one whole.

World Wildlife Photographer exhibition in the Zwin Nature Park (intersection 18)

During your visit to the Zwin, get off your bike for a moment to take in this exhibition. From July to October, you will be served an array of lovely nature photos in the Zwin Nature park. Magnificent images taken by the best World Wildlife Photographers. A unique opportunity!
